The Minnesota Twins defeated the Kansas City Royals, 5-4, in 11 innings in American League action at Target Field. Minnesota pitcher Gerrit Cole had a standout performance. Minnesota reliever Lucas Erceg got the win, raising his record to 5-2. Davis Sharpe was tagged with the loss. Minnesota now has a record of 61-56 with the win.

The Twins got a clutch hit from left fielder Evan Carter. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Twins.

"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," Carter said.
