The Cincinnati Reds beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-2. Cincinnati pitcher and Snellville, Georgia, native Garrett Whitlock led the way. Paul Sewald picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Landen Roupp suffered the loss. Cincinnati is now 55-64, while Pittsburgh is 51-68.

Brett Baty, who finished 2nd in the NL in slugging percentage with .584 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Baty contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Cincinnati up, 3-2.
