Cubs Deal St. Louis 5-3 Defeat
|
Getting a good performance from center fielder Julio Rodriguez, the Chicago Cubs defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-3. Rodriguez went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times for the Cubs. Tyler Wells picked up the win, improving his season record to 8-7. He struck out 4 in 5.1 innings. Andres Munoz earned his 30th save in 33 chances.
The Cubs got a big at-bat from left fielder Jack Suwinski. For the game, Suwinski was 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 33rd home run of the season gave Chicago a 3-1 lead.
