Nationals Lose to Royals, 6-5
|
The Kansas City Royals beat the Washington Nationals, 6-5, at Kauffman Stadium. Corbin Carroll, who finished 4th in the AL in extra base hits with 80 last year, starred for Kansas City. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Penn Murfee was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Seranthony Dominguez. Scott Barlow notched his 2nd save in 5 chances.
Carroll had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 0-2 slider from Seranthony Dominguez, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Royals a 6-4 lead. It was the 17th home run of the year for Carroll.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Carroll.
The Nationals, at 57-62, have lost 4 in a row.
