|
New York starter Braxton Ashcraft pitched well against the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3, in 10 innings. The winner in relief was Blake Treinen. He is now 5-0. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. The Mets have now won 6 straight.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, four-time All-Star Bobby Witt Jr. had a chance to be the hero. Atlanta pitcher Clayton Beeter wanted to foil that plan. But with no outs, Witt Jr. hit a sacrifice fly. The Mets had themselves a thrilling win.
