Toronto wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Pablo Lopez, falling to the Chicago Cubs, 4-2. Lopez threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. The setback makes Toronto 54-68.

Giancarlo Stanton came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

In postgame comments to the Chicago Citizen, Stanton said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
