Blue Jays Suffer One-Run Loss at Chicago
The Chicago Cubs defeated the Toronto Blue Jays, 8-7, in National League action at Wrigley Field. Gleyber Torres pulled his weight. The 6-year veteran was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win went to Andres Muñoz in relief, making him now 1-3. Ben Bowden took the loss for Toronto. David Bednar recorded the save, making him 26 for 27.

Had Ty France not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, France hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Cubs.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said France.

The National League Central Division-leading Cubs are 73-51.
