Pittsburgh Pirates starter Tomoyuki Sugano found his groove in his team's 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs. Pierce Johnson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 24 save opportunities. Pittsburgh is now 55-70, Chicago 75-49.

Brewer Hicklen had a direct impact on the outcome. Hicklen contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 3-2.
