Starting pitcher Paul Blackburn was a major factor in the 5-2 Texas Rangers triumph over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Texas, with the win, climbs to 43-84.

Jarren Duran had a big 3-run home run for the Rangers in the bottom of the second inning. With Texas leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a splitter from Tony Gonsolin, who finished 2nd in the NL in wins with 16 last year, and punished it. The result was his 13th home run of the season, which put the Rangers on top, 4-0.
