Yankees Earn Late 5-4 Win
|
Despite a great performance by Tampa Bay center fielder Kenedy Corona, the New York Yankees defeated the Rays by the score of 5-4 at Tropicana Field. Corona went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Taylor Rogers nailed down the save. New York is 58-68 and Tampa Bay, with the loss, 45-82.
It could have been a different outcome for New York, had it not been for Austin Hays, the 30-year old center fielder . Hays contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put New York up, 5-4.
In postgame remarks, Hays said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
