Phillies Lose to Royals, 5-3
|
Benefiting from Mark Canha's productive game, the Kansas City Royals downed the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-3. Canha was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Royals. Max Scherzer was the winner. He's now 2-0. The loser was 36-year old right-handed pitcher Miles Mikolas. With the win, Kansas City raised its record to 74-55.
The Royals got a big at-bat from first baseman Rafael Devers. For the game, Devers went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 39th home run of the season gave Kansas City a 2-1 lead.
"We did enough to win," said Canha.
