Philadelphia Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
The Philadelphia Phillies had to overcome a fine effort from Washington pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. to win, 7-6, at Citizens Bank Park. McCullers Jr. went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Philadelphia pitcher Justin Martinez earned the win, hiking his record to 4-3. Griffin Jax suffered the loss. Philadelphia goes to 83-46, Washington to 63-67.

The decisive blow was delivered by William Contreras in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 30-year old right-handed pitcher Griffin Jax to win the game for Philadelphia. The home crowd went nuts.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Washington manager Shane S. "But we decided not to take it."
