Braves Lose at Home, 2-1
|
Truist Park was the site of a tense game between the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets.
The New York Mets earned a close win over the Atlanta Braves, thanks in part to Chayce McDermott. The New York right-hander, who leads the NL with a 1.01 WHIP, played a key role in the 2-1 victory. The winning pitcher was McDermott, now 9-6. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 7.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Bobby Witt Jr.? The four-time All-Star Witt Jr. stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put New York up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Witt Jr. said.
With the win, New York pushed its record to 73-56.
