San Francisco first baseman Jeimer Candelario contributed significantly to his team's 6-3 win over the Chicago Cubs. Candelario, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in doubles with 36, went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Giants. The win belonged to Gregory Soto in relief. His record improves to 3-0. David Bednar took the loss for Chicago. San Francisco is now 70-62, Chicago 80-52.

Candelario had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count fastball from David Bednar, he banged a run-scoring double to left-center, giving the Giants a 4-3 lead. It was the 36th double of the year for Candelario.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Candelario.
