Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Teoscar Hernández, the Houston Astros defeated the Detroit Tigers, 9-4. Hernández was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Astros. The loss makes Detroit 85-49.

The Tigers had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Astros going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the fan favorite Yainer Diaz came to the plate. Diaz hit a run-scoring double on a full count fastball from Detroit hurler Humberto Castellanos. It was Diaz's 17th double of the year.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Diaz said.
