Athletics Earn 2-1 Win Versus Rangers
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers.
Oakland Athletics starter George Kirby hurled his team past the Texas Rangers, 2-1. Abner Uribe snagged the win in relief. He goes to 5-3 on the season. Yuki Matsui suffered the loss. Robert Stephenson, credited with the save, is now 21 for 26 in save opportunities.
Had Bryan De La Cruz not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, De La Cruz hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Athletics.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Oakland skipper Brad P. "I can't complain."
The Rangers, now 53-82, have lost 5 straight.
