Braves Lose to Phillies, 7-3
|
The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Atlanta Braves, 7-3, in part because of first baseman Josh Bell. Bell went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Phillies. Davis Martin picked up the win, lifting his record to 13-7 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 0 in 6.1 innings, while yielding 2 runs. The win puts the Phillies at 64-70, while the Braves drop to 65-71.
Sam Huff had a big 2-run double for the Phillies in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Philadelphia leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Ryan Murphy and swatted a double to right. It was his 24th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Phillies ahead, 5-2.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Bell told the Philadelphia Times.
