Kansas City Royals starter Alek Manoah found his groove in his team's 5-4 win over the Detroit Tigers. Austin Adams came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-2. By defeating Detroit, the last-place Royals improved to 62-73.

Kansas City got a knockout punch from Corbin Carroll. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"It was a solid team effort," said Manoah after the game.
