The San Francisco Giants got a magnificent performance from pitcher Logan Gilbert, who muffled the Baltimore offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Giants win at Oracle Park. The winning pitcher was Gilbert, now 12-4. He tossed 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. With this game in the books, San Francisco is 73-64, Baltimore 68-69.
The Giants benefited from an error in the bottom of the fifth inning. San Francisco was leading 1-0 when Nick Ahmed hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put San Francisco in front, 2-0.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Ahmed.
