Alvarez Stars for Astros in 9-5 Win
Houston designated hitter Yordan Alvarez contributed significantly to his team's 9-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Alvarez, who is tied for 2nd in the AL in runs scored with 100, went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Astros. Hunter Brown, the winning pitcher, is now 9-6. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 2. The triumph puts Houston at 89-49 for the season.

With Houston leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Alvarez hit a cutter from Corbin Burnes for a 3-run home run. It was his 39th home run of the season and put the Astros ahead, 4-0.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Alvarez.
