The Cleveland Guardians outlasted the Boston Red Sox, 14-8, in 13 innings. Gunnar Henderson led the way, going 4-for-6 for Cleveland. Cleveland reliever Ryan Weber was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Jimmy Herget. The victory gives Cleveland a record of 71-66.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Carlos Santana came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Boston pitcher Tyler Holton, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cleveland on top, 9-8.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Santana said.
