Atlanta Tacks 7-3 Loss on Chicago
|
At Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Atlanta Braves topped the Chicago Cubs, 7-3, in National League action at Wrigley Field. The standout performance belonged to Atlanta pitcher and San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic, native Frankie Montas. Montas, now 7-5, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs.
Atlanta used a well-timed hit by Kevin Kiermaier to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Braves ahead, 6-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Atlanta manager Steven G.
Atlanta is now 63-78, Chicago 84-56.
