Brandon Woodruff, who is tied for 8th in the NL with a 3.35 ERA, never let the Yankees get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Cubs to a win, 4-0. The victory gives Chicago a record of 84-57.

Chicago second baseman Gleyber Torres contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a curveball to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 125th hit of the season and put the Cubs ahead, 2-0.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Torres.
