Rays Jolt Orioles, 7-3, with Late Rally
|
Tampa Bay beat Baltimore on the strength of starting pitcher Jack Flaherty's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-3. The winner was Tampa Bay reliever Dominic Pipkin, now 2-4. The loser was Phil Maton. Tampa Bay, with the win, climbs to 47-95.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Anthony Rendon came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Baltimore pitcher Phil Maton, he hit a 2-0 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Tampa Bay on top, 4-3.
Rendon called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
