The Minnesota Twins downed the Kansas City Royals, 5-1, at Kauffman Stadium. Stellar pitching by Garrett Richards had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. With the win, the Twins improved to 61-81.

Minnesota used the hitting of C.J. Cron to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Twins on top, 2-0. For the game, Cron had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Cron. "And not try to do too much."
