Ryan Pepiot never let the Royals get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Twins to a win, 5-1. The winner was Pepiot. He threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Miles Mikolas. With the win, Minnesota has a record of 79-65. Kansas City falls to 64-79.

The Royals had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Twins going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old first baseman Triston Casas came to the plate. Casas hit a solo home run on a 0-2 curveball from Kansas City hurler Miles Mikolas. It was Casas's 32nd home run of the year.

"We've been playing some good baseball," Casas told the Minnesota Bulletin. "We're aggressive and focused on what we're going to do on the field and getting it done."
