Colorado Rockies starter Max Fried pitched his team past the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3-1. The Rockies improved their record to 85-61 by beating Los Angeles.

Colorado used a timely hit from Josh Smith to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rockies ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Colorado manager Bobby S. "It's usually not just one thing."
