Pittsburgh Nets 4-3 Win Versus Orioles
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates faced a tough opponent in Baltimore pitcher Chris Bassitt, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Oriole Park at Camden Yards by a final score of 4-3 in 10 innings. Bassitt went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. The winner was Pittsburgh reliever Brenan Hanifee, now 2-0. The loser was Jeff Hoffman. Pierce Johnson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 28 of 33 save opportunities.
Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Jonah Bride to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Pirates on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Bride.
Today's win puts Pittsburgh at 68-79, while Baltimore falls to 70-76.
