Yankees Stumble, Lose to Red Sox
|
The Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees by the score of 8-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to right fielder Leody Taveras. Taveras went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Red Sox on the day. Boston reliever Aroldis Chapman snagged the win, upping his record to 9-4. Tyson Miller shouldered the loss. The win puts Boston at 76-73 this season.
Nolan Jones was 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Boston. The 26-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a 2-run single off Tyson Miller. It was his 149th hit of the season.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Jones told the Boston Citizen.
