The Pittsburgh Pirates knocked off the Kansas City Royals, 5-3, in National League action at PNC Park. Pittsburgh pitcher and Huntersville, North Carolina, native Bailey Ober had an outstanding performance. Collin [UNRATED] McHugh earned his 29th save in 33 chances. With the victory, the Pirates record stands at 62-86.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Greg Allen came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Kansas City pitcher Jhoan Duran, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Pittsburgh on top, 4-3.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Allen.
