The Kansas City Royals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-3, at PNC Park. The Royals got a fine performance from designated hitter Rafael Devers, who was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Dylan Cease got credit for the win, improving to 13-10. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings. With the win, Kansas City raised its record to 86-64.

With Kansas City leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Devers came up to bat against Pittsburgh pitcher Michael Grove. Devers hit a curveball to left-center for a 3-run home run. His 44th home run of the season put the Royals on top, 4-0.
