Starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo was a major factor in the 5-1 Chicago Cubs triumph over the Tampa Bay Rays. Chicago is now 88-61, Tampa Bay 52-97.
Gleyber Torres had a big solo home run for the Cubs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Tylor Megill and punished it. The result was his 20th home run of the season, which put the Cubs on top, 2-0.
Chicago manager Bryan H praised his team's "energy."
