The Miami Marlins knocked off the Detroit Tigers, 3-2, at loanDepot Park. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was a big reason Miami won. The first baseman went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. Miami reliever Luis Ortiz was the winner. His record is now 8-2. Hunter Greene took the loss. Edwin Díaz notched his 38th save in 44 chances.
Alex Bregman drove in one run for Miami. The 31-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Hunter Greene. It was his 53rd RBI of the season.
"I like the roll we're on," said Miami manager Ryan S.
With the victory, the Marlins upped their record to 94-56.
