Cardinals Suffer 5-4 Home Defeat
|
The Cincinnati Reds weathered a fine game by St. Louis right fielder Mookie Betts to upend the Cardinals, 5-4, at Busch Stadium. Betts was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Cincinnati reliever Andrew Heaney was the winner. His record is now 10-6. Shota Imanaga took the loss. The Reds improved their record to 74-76 with the win over St. Louis.
Cincinnati used a clutch at-bat from Adley Rutschman to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Reds ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Rutschman.
