Blue Jays Trip Rangers, 5-3, in Extra Innings
|
Toronto and Texas duked it out and the Blue Jays came out victorious.
The Texas Rangers got a sterling performance from pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but the Toronto Blue Jays still prevailed, 5-3. Yamamoto threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball. Toronto reliever David Peterson got the win, raising his record to 7-6. Ryan Jensen was tagged with the loss.
Toronto needed the clutch hitting of Dylan Carlson to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 17th inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 5-3. For the game, Carlson had 1 home run and 2 singles in 7 at-bats.
"Nice win for us," said Carlson. "Now we'll go after the next one."
Toronto leads the American League East Division by 8 games.
