Red Sox 7-4 Winners Over Houston
|
Spencer Torkelson was a major contributor to the 7-4 Boston win over Houston. The Red Sox first baseman was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win belonged to J.P. France in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Jacob deGrom took the loss for Houston. John Schreiber, credited with the save, is now 7 for 10 in save opportunities.
The Astros had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Red Sox going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the two-time All-Star Sean Murphy came to the plate. Murphy hit a 2-run triple on a 1-2 fastball from Houston hurler Brandon Bielak. It was Murphy's 1st triple of the year.
"We took home the win," said Murphy. "What's not to like?"
Houston has now lost 4 in a row.
