Vaughn Shines, But Mets Fall Short
|
New York second baseman Andrew Vaughn had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-8, to Philadelphia at Citi Field. Vaughn hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Philadelphia pitcher Miles Mikolas earned the win, hiking his record to 9-15. Clayton Kershaw suffered the loss. This win makes it 5 in a row for Philadelphia.
Philadelphia used a clutch at-bat from Christopher Morel to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Phillies ahead, 6-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Philadelphia manager Jon C.
