France Helps Tampa Bay Cruise to 11-3 Win
|
Tampa Bay designated hitter Ty France was a significant contributor in his team's 11-3 triumph over the Boston Red Sox. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Rays. With the win over Boston, the Rays improved to 54-100.
Edward Olivares had a big bases-clearing double for the Rays in the bottom of the first inning. With Tampa Bay trailing 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Zack Wheeler, who is tied for 4th in the AL with a 3.34 ERA, and swatted a double to center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rays ahead, 3-2.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said France.
