Orioles Win with Late Heroics
|
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays.
George Springer did all he could to help his team prevail. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Tampa Bay Rays from losing the game, 6-5, to the Baltimore Orioles in 12 innings at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Springer went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Baltimore reliever Packy Naughton picked up the win, upping his record to 8-5. Yennier Cano absorbed the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Baltimore first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand, facing Ethan Small, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Orioles the 6-5 win.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Encarnacion-Strand said.
The setback makes Tampa Bay 55-102.
