Pittsburgh designated hitter Christian Yelich contributed significantly to his team's 6-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Yelich, who finished 3rd in the NL in runs with 126 in 2022, went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Pirates. The winning pitcher was 30-year old right-handed pitcher Bailey Ober. He tossed 85 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Pittsburgh is now 72-85, Cincinnati 76-81.

Pittsburgh grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Yelich hit a 2-run home run off Corbin Burnes. His 25th home run of the season put the Pirates out in front, 3-1.
