St. Louis Downed, 4-2, by Cubs
|
A 3-RBI performance from Jack Suwinski, who is on pace to hit 45 home runs this season, helped the Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-2. Chicago reliever Andres Munoz was the winner. His record is now 6-4. Mark Leiter Jr. took the loss. Chicago is now 94-66, 16½ games up in the National League Central Division.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Suwinski hit a splitter from Mark Leiter Jr. for a 2-run home run. The Cubs, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"It was a solid team effort," said Suwinski after the game.
