Brown Pops Two Homers in 9-5 Win for Washington
|
A 3-RBI performance from Seth Brown helped the Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 9-5. Javier Assad picked up the win, lifting his record to 10-12 on the season. He struck out 5 and walked 3 in 5.2 innings, while yielding 2 runs. Matt Brash notched his 11th save in 14 chances.
In the bottom of the fourth, Washington center fielder Mike Tauchman had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out, Tauchman stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 2-0, Washington. For the game, he was 1-4.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Tauchman.
The Nationals go to 61-99 with the win.
