Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Chicago Cubs were eager to watch Brandon Woodruff square off against Gerrit Cole of the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. In the end, the Cubs won the game, 3-0, with Brandon Woodruff leading the way. In 6 innings, Woodruff surrendered 1 hit, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Chicago left fielder Dane Myers contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put the Cubs ahead, 3-0.
