Reds Earn Win with Late Rally
Crowds lined up early in front of Great American Ball Park, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2024 Major League Baseball season. On the mound was Max Scherzer for the visiting Washington Nationals and Corbin Burnes for the hometown Cincinnati Reds. In a spirited contest, the Reds pulled out the win, defeating the Nationals by the score of 3-2. Especially impressive was Max Scherzer. Cincinnati reliever Emmanuel Clase was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Griffin Jax.

Travis Jankowski was the walk-off hero for Cincinnati. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Reds center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"I felt good up there," said Jankowski. "I saw the ball well."
