The Seattle Mariners could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Zach Eflin into a win. Instead, the Houston Astros prevailed, 4-3. Eflin threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Penn Murfee earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 1-0. The save went to Hunter Harvey, number 1 for him.
Ha-seong Kim had a direct impact on the outcome. Kim contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Houston up, 4-3.
"We took home the win," said Kim. "What's not to like?"
The loss drops the Mariners to 1-1.
