Royals left fielder Daulton Varsho left his mark on his team's 6-5 win over the Cleveland Guardians. Varsho, who finished 4th in the AL in extra base hits with 81 in 2023, hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for Kansas City in the contest. With the loss, Cleveland is 0-2.

Had Rafael Devers not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Devers hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Royals.
