Mets Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Citi Field was the site of some high drama.
New York catcher Jose Trevino played a vital role in his team's 5-4 conquest of Toronto. He was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch for New York. New York pitcher Caleb Ferguson got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Josh Hader got the loss.
New York got a knockout punch from Bobby Witt Jr.. The shortstop hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"We couldn't have scripted it any better," Witt Jr. said in his postgame press conference.
The defeat makes Toronto 2-7.
