Guardians Pin 6-1 Loss on Oakland
|
The Cleveland Guardians beat the Oakland Athletics, 6-1. Cleveland pitcher and Lake Forest, California, native Paul Skenes led the way. The winner was Skenes. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Jordan Montgomery. Oakland is 5-4 after the loss.
Cleveland second baseman Miguel Rojas contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 9th hit of the season and put the Guardians ahead, 3-1.
"Paul set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said Cleveland manager Paul B.
