The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-3, in National League action at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati pitcher Seth Lugo had a standout performance. For the Pirates, the loss makes their record 5-9.
The Reds got a big at-bat from second baseman Jonathan India. For the game, India went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season gave Cincinnati a 3-1 lead.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Lugo. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
