In a low-scoring affair between the New York Yankees and the San Francisco Giants, pitcher Andre Pallante was the difference between victory and defeat. The New York right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Yankees win. The victory makes New York 5-9.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Yankees had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when right fielder Starling Marte hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Matthew Boyd and made the score 2-0, Yankees. Marte went 2-4 with a double.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Pallante told the New York Daily.
